Thanks Pilsbury - I've tried the local shops and they don't do them. I'm also after a longer wick for my oil-burning lamp - he sells the lamps but can't get spare wicks.

The thought just occured to me, if I save all the t-light candle holders I use for my oil burners, I could refill my own!
Is that possible? Idea

yep you can refill them but you still need to use the waxed threads with holders to keep the wicks upright, its much more dificult to just poke waxed wicks into them as all the wax will melt in the tealights and the wicks will fall over.

And I suppose getting them is dearer than buying the candles in the first place?  Confused

As you were, I've just dug one to bits and I'm sure the wick stand could be re-used.

I remember when I did a night course on candlemaking and the tutor did a fun thing........we got an ordinary white household candle and stuck it in a small bowl with melted wax. When it had cooled she half-filled the bowl with liquid wax and then immediately plunged the whole bowl into a bucket of really cold water with a quick downward motion. The end result was fantastic. The candle had like a wax veil going over it......very stunning. Hope I've explained it well enough.
