i am now just getting ready to go to the smallholders show in Builth Wells.
have to set up the bucket feeder in the goat pen for the two orphans, feed the rest of the herd, let them all out, then feed the poultry and quail, give the dogs a good run, feed them, check ponies and sheep are all ok......then get ourselves ready for our day out....
i am sooo looking forward to having time off, even if it is just for the day..... |

Me too Mogs. I've just fed Fahly and Itsy (and all the cats) and I'll be off up to pick up Barbara at 9 o'clock. Have a good day!
Doubt we'll see each other in the crush, but if you see a dumpy freckled lady in grey jeans, lightish blue cotton top, green glasses and wielding a camera - that's me! _________________ http://codlinsandcream.blogspot.com/ |

3.45 Mogs
Anyway, you'll both be there now so hope you're having a good day.
I've finished work, just going to sew a hem up for Greenlady then get out for a walk before this party. |

I had a fabulous day (I was up hours later than Mogs though - about ten to five!) I will write it up tomorrow - getting a bit tired tonight now, all that walking and looking (and talking!) I was very disappointed that there was a different set up, with stands spread around more, and of course, no Wonderwool like there was last year which was SUCH a treat, but it was still a good day out, and I made a new spinning friend and came home with one of her Jacob fleeces to spin. Back in the morning. Hope you enjoyed it too Mogs. Did you have far to travel? It's about 100 mile round trip for me. _________________ http://codlinsandcream.blogspot.com/ |

sounds like you all had a good day and the weather was kind to you as well
maybe next year for me
well we had our meeting which was somewhat instructive and we are all agreed that we have to press on andtry to keep the trust afloat despite everything
i am sure we can do it but it is going to be a hard slog and we can never rest on any laurels at all....mr nanny is going to do a contract to look at holiday liveries and we will contact the vets again re the convalescent liver and we will go on with our never ending fund raising.....
we will prevail |

it is about an hour and halfs drive for us from here.....
the reason i was up sooooo early was i have so much to do before i can get away even for a day....lol....the main tthing being making sure the youngsters have enough milk in thier bucket for the day, plus giving them a nice good warm bottle or two to start their day off......
well yes it was a good day, the hilights were meeting a group of people from another forum i belong to......it was really nice putting faces to the people i chat to on the net, plus saying hi to others i have not seen since the last show......phew by the time we chatted to everyone there was hardly anytime to have a good look around.......fofl.
we did notice that although there were a few new stalls, there was a lack of animals, poss due to the bluetongue restrictions.....
i also found out, how darn hard it is going to be to go organic on this place.....!!!! ..... we have a good starting point in the fact that the ground has been clear of any chemicals or gm manure etc for over 20 years, but when it comes to changing the feeds over etc and registering with the association etc to become certificated....not only is it complicated, but flippin expensive to be able to say you are ' organic '......and of course the cost in doing so would have to be passed on to the consumer !!!!
well my OH and i have spoken about it for quite a while now... we are still going to go down the ' organic ' path, but instead of both us and the consumer paying thru the nose to have it labelled ' organic ' we will advertise it as chemical and gm free, that way there will only be a minimal amount of cost that has to be passed on......
what is so annoying is, the big boys etc say it is the way to go, and it is healthier etc etc but to have it you have to pay thru the nose....it is all wrong.....i can see why people on a low income ( and some on a high income too ) turn to convenience food, micro meals, etc etc......it is just sooo sad that the cost of going down that road is so expensive for everyone. |

A good day was had by all then Mogs.
Organic is the buzz word isn't it and I like the way, you've approached it. My home grown veg couldn't be "certified" but I would call it organic.
It seems that everything that needs to be done to help the environment is also designed to line pockets of people who already have plenty. |

you are right there...' buzz word '....lol....
did you know that the ' organic ' word is mainly only in principle....i found out that you only have to actually feed your animals a percentage of organic feed to be able to say it is organic meat.....seems the gen public are being ripped off.....i was fuming when i heard this......it is not even as high as 50% of feed has to be organic.....tho i was assured this is changing....yeah right..... |
