I remember making nettle wine years ago (and getting very stung gathering the tips).....when we bottled it, it tasted of ......nettles.....ugh!

I've been making all things nettle lately and been pondering on trying nettle wine or ale.

Maybe I won't bother then!!!

Mark mentioned something along those lines for next weekend. I remember when he made the scouts drink nettle tea. I swear most of them threw up Laughing
I got out of it because I was pregnant at the time and told him I'd throw up.
Pity I can't use the same excuse now Rolling Eyes

My Father made it years ago and said it was good but I've not tried it myself. I think picking young nettles is best, it's when they get bigger that they get bitter.

St.Georges day is the day to pick dandylion flowers for wine, it's nice. Laughing You do have to be careful of night time in bed though Rolling Eyes Laughing Cool

I used to make wine out of everything and then we realised that we were drinking it because it was there rather than because it was any good Sad We made cider last year but I'm leaving that for my OH to taste Very Happy
