Has an affinity with the female reproductive tract helping to reduce heavy periods particularly around the menopause. It can be used to relieve period pains, to regulate periods and was a traditional remedy for inducing sleep.
It makes a good skin lotion for rashes such as excema, cuts, sores and insect bites. As a mouth wash it can be used for bleeding gums, mouth ulcers and sore throats.
The astringent properties are useful for treating gastroenteritis and diarrhea while the sali-cylic acid reduces inflammation in the digestive and reproductive systems.
A pretty clever wee herb then.
Caution Avoid during pregnancy. |
