Change your Perspective

Sometimes changing the perspective when composing your picture can create a more interesting photo often showing the viewer elements one would not usually notice looking at eye level and straight on - our usual point of view. This is particularly useful when photographing children and pets, get down low to their level rather than capturing an image looking down at them. Try photographing flowers from the bugs point of view which can produce some really interesting shots making the viewer feel dwarfed by what feels like giant flowers. But don't think only of getting low, photographing from a high perspective can also produce some unusual photographs. Changing the perspective can change the lighting, texture, mood and detail of a subject. I've included some of my photos below as examples, ones where I have held the camera low down to change the perspective. I know GREENWIZARD has some fantastic examples of flowers taken from the bugs eye view, perhaps she will post them for us to see.

Do you feel dwarfed by these daffodils?

We usually see frog spawn from above, doesn't it look different from the frogs eye view?

Poppy has an air of superiority when photographed at her level rather from above looking down at her.

Homework: Next time you take a photo, position yourself for a second shot but change the perspective to see how it alters the mood, detail or lighting of the shot. Post your photos below so that we can all see further examples. Very Happy
