I've found this new "thing": melting bits of plastic together to form patterns and I'm using the finished "plaques" for cards. But I have no idea what this form of craft-work is called! Can anyone tell me? Here's a few finished cards so you can see what I mean:

I don't know what it's called but it's very unusual, it looks lovely on the gold cards with those colours

Mum was fascinated by it when I showed her. She's tried practially everything crafty/artistic and hadn't seen anything like it. She's going to show me some sort of bead-making when I next visit. I might have more work to show then!!!

Strips of plastic in various colours, and a heater thingy rather like a hairdryer only hotter. I already had the heater so just bought the strips. So far Hobbycraft don't stock them because I've enquired but I can get them for £1 a strip near me. Each of those cards probably cost about 25p for the plastic - perhaps less.

It's really effective...reminds me of the feather icing you can get on some cakes...really pretty

Ah yes, I was trying to remember. When you ice the cake and dip a skewer in melted chocolate or a different icing and pull it through the still wet icing.

I used to love doing that.

Mystery solved.

the only plastic melting 'thingy' i know is hama beads. the kids had these when small and we made all sorts of things with them- place mats, little boxes, all sorts. this looks really interesting- i love how the colours blend together. I wonder if you made very thin ones(not on a card) and hung them in a window, would they refract the light like suncatchers?

I like the idea of window decorations. I'll have to work on that but the plastic might be a bit thick. Well worth a play though - thank you!

Lottie- ive done a little but you need a really steady hand! (the lining stage) ive been fabric painting a tea towel on and off for the last two years- a black and white outline of Glastonbury that i am gradually getting coloured in! one day it'll be finished, but it takes a steady hand too!
