--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After coming back early this morning from acupuncture in torrential rain - I decided to have a go at making soap.

I have only made St Clements before.

I looked at what I had to hand, and the Oatmeal and Lemon Blam Scrub Bar ticked all the right spots except lemon balm which was optional.

The recipe is in the Melinda Coss book on page 45

It included 15g Clary sage, which I found a bit overwhelming so I hope that it is not so strong once it has cured.

I have just poured in into an ice cream tub to set, and if it turns out all right I will post photos. It looks a lovely caramel toffee colour - I used some cocoa powder in it as I did not have ultramarine.

Thank you Jesse for inspiring me - to get my finger out and actually do it!

It is a nice feeling to know that my 'swap' is done. Had we not been experiencing the most dreadful 'stair rods' of cloud bursts - I would of course be doing allotmenty things.

it sounds lovely Lottie, the fragrance will most likely fade a little during the curing process so don't worry.

Phew that is a relief - you use 1tbsp of clary sage and just 2 tsp of lemon!

Thanks for that.

I love your pink summer soap - just got to sort out these colourings.

I have food colouring powders and gels - lots of them which I use us sugar craft flower making etc.

I wonder if they will do. I used cocoa powder as I didn't have 5g of ultramarine diluted powder! Didn't know what it was.

Must go and do lunch, my stomach thinks my head has been chopped off and so does my shingles - I have to eat before taking the bucket of pain killers

I'm not sure about colourings Lottie, this is the first time I've put colouring (apart from using spices) into soap, all very exciting.
