Hi all,

wondering if you can help me???

My husband would love to get back into blacksmithing but we are having a real problem getting hold of blacksmith's bellows or a blower for his forge.

He did a course in 1997 and has done some blacksmithing for friends and a local museum but we have had trouble getting hold of working second hand equipment. We have an anvil and a forge but still need bellows to work the forge.

We will be prepared to pay upto £100 depending on condition, plus upto £50 for postage/delivery. We will also consider a forge & bellows unit and we will sell the forge he has if necessary.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, if anyone knows anyone who is willing to sell a set of blacksmith's bellows and send via courier (we will collect within 50 miles of the Camberley area).

If there are any organisations you could point me to that may give me leads that would be good too.

Poor hubby has been waiting 10 years to get his own setup and now we have the space we can't find the equipment.

Hope you can help, I would be grateful

I assume you are talking blacksmithing rather than farriery here? My farrier has a heat-up forge in the back of his car, so bellows no longer needed. Any point in contacting the school of farriery at Hereford in case they can point him down the right road - may be some folks with old-fashioned forge buildings (and bellows) still about. If I see Old Albert, who had the forge up in our village, I will ask if he has bellows still lying about. Other than that I can only suggest getting a craftsman to make some up for you?

Good news on the blower front, we won a blower on ebay last night!

We are now on the lookout for other useful blacksmithing bits, so if anyone hears of anything going please tell. Thanks.
