I have several linen bags, and have made an extra-big one, which are always in the car. How often do I get to the checkout to find they are STILL in the car though? I just put the things in the trolley, only wrap meat in a supermarket carrier bag (which is reused as a bin-liner anyway, or we pass them on to the Health Food Shop). I have boxes in the boot for tins, and everything else gets repacked into the linen bags.
We put all our fruit and vegetable waste on the compost heap, and have a defunct mixing bowl in the kitchen to put the peelings etc in. We religiously recycle everything that can be recycled. We buy meat from known sources (whole lambs locally, whole deer carcass from culled deer at Margam Park), grow some of our own vegetables, lots of apples and soft fruit too.
We have low energy bulbs throughout the house, though they are not good for my eyes, and I have a special sewing light/magnifier for sewing by. We have a woodburning stove in our sitting room and burn logs from local woodland (including our own). _________________ http://codlinsandcream.blogspot.com/
I always try to remember to take my own bags to the supermarket.
We have veg from the box scheme at school (Riverford was toooo expensive and not always great quality) Try to grow some ourselves.
My local butcher is all local sourced meat if we can't get meat from friends animals.
Use bicarb and vinegar for cleaning when I can
I make my own soap and shampoo
We compost our veg waste and keep our own chickens.....
we've started to compost religiously since we got our kitchen caddy.
I grow fruit & vegetables on my allotment
sadly my OH is not very green, he has his pc on day & night and is always putting the heating on - whereas I'll put a jumper on, or get a throw to snuggle up under. On the plus side he doesn't drive his car very often at all. Maybe it all balances out over the long term.
