Oh, I forgot, Coco and I saw a RED SQUIRREL, yes a red one.

I heard something on the radio the other day that early frogspawn has sometimes not been fertilised by the male. Or it could be frost.
Today I have seen:
my first butterfly for the year (it was a red and black one, forgot the name - not the spotty one)
my first bumblebee and another type of bee (possibly a tawny mining bee)
lots of bluebell and lily of the valley leaves in the woods
cherry (or apple) blossom in the woods _________________ Aqui, T and Baby Jack!
Ooh what a lovely thread - it's really reminded me that winter doesn't last forever!
We've got snowdrops and crocus out in the garden, other bulbs are starting to come through and there was a humble bee buzzing around the sitting room window yesterday. Apart from that, there's not a lot happening above ground where we are.
We have red squirrels in the woods where we walk the dogs and see them from time to time, but apparently the march northwards of the greys is getting closer and closer every year - I think I heard that they'made it into the same county now, which is a tragedy for the natives. However, our woods are mostly pine (which the reds like) and not a lot of broadleaf (which the greys prefer) so hopefully we won't see them here. We had a red visiting the garden a few years back, on a daily basis for about three weeks - he cost me a fortune in hazelnuts! _________________ When I married Mr. Right, I didn't realise his first name was Always ...
Today definitely felt very springy! it was warm enough for me to take my fleece off. the buds are just opening on the forsythia, the weigela is also getting buds, there's new growth on my summer jasmine. and the birds were singing a happy song!
but my daffs and crocuses seem to have given up - or been eaten.
