this may seem a strange request but the chooks have decided they no longer want to lay in their nestboxes and are "dropping" them everywhere.

i understand that a golfball or something similar left in the box will encourage them to lay in the right place.

i have no idea how expensive golf balls are but wonder if anyone has something suitable "laying" about that will trick the girls into better behaviour!   seems silly to line the pockets of shopkeepers if we can do a bit of recycling.

What a pity I could have brought you some from my sons house he lives near a golf course and we pick them up from the undergrowth, but I didn't bring any home with me, I remember my Grandad had a pot egg he used to put in the bedding for his chickens years ago, always thought it was a funny thing to do but now I know the reason why Confused

i think you can get a china egg cheaper than a golf ball but if you have one, i don't see why it wouldn't work.......

they could be confused if you have moved them so maybe shutting them in until they lay for a day or two would work as well with no chance of saphie getting to the golf balls..........wouldn't do a labrador any good i should think to swallow a golf ball and i know lots  of labradors that would see it as a snack

You can often get them at charity shops - worth and ask.

Yep -popped in and looked now and again - but life is hectic this end - apart from the things I blog about.

Nice to read up on what everyone else is doing
