Karl just mentioned a tip that his mother used...never heard of it before but it makes a lot of sense..........................
If you are making curtains (this could be done with ready-mades too I should imagine....just requires a bit more fiddling around) .....before adding the lining, sellotape thick turkey tin foil to the curtain fabric....add your lining and pin in place before stitching.
Apparently this was a common way of making curtains before central heating.....stops draughts from the windows coming into the room and reflects the heat back!!!!!! I'm going to try this with our bedroom curtains 'cos it's bl**dy cold in there!!!!
I had never heard this before, but I knew you could put it behind radiators, doing the same thing reflecting the heat back in! Like Kathy said, probably only work on smaller windows either that or you would need shares in the foil company
