How about notebooks?  10p a pad from ASDA.   If you have a printer attached to your computer you could print out images onto paper and stick them on to the front cover.

(Which is white with green writing on which says something like ASDA note pad.)

I have made some 'tarted' up a bit by punching holes in them and adding a wire - and using some rubber stamps to stamp an image.   But you really don't have to.

You could even cut out images from magazines - even lettering or poems or sayings and personalise them.

I can give you links to free images on the internet - or you can google any image you are looking for!

How about getting some dominoes (the smooth ivory coloured ones) from a charity shop - those can be decorated in the same way - or painted first then decorated.   If you drill a hole in the top - you can add a ring and make them into pendants or keyrings or bag charms.

You can buy wooden ones for £2 for 10 - already drilled - again I can help you with links and images.  These are pre-drilled vertically so even easier to make into the above.

What about book marks - even easier.  Cut out of cardboard - you can use any - cereal/tea/ or whatever packet.  Cut out an image/check first that the pattern won't show through - you might have to add a paper each side.  Punch a hole in the top add some pretty wool - wonderful

You can theme things to suit the recipient.

Just a few things to get you started

Forgot to say - that any of the dominoes etc can be turned into book mark thongs by adding threads, ribbon etc.

Bags, bags and more bags, everybody wants proper shopping bags now, very easy to make.

This is just one pattern out there ........

but there are so many including how to make a bag out of teatowels!

I don't use teatowels but they are a good guide for size.

You can make long handled bags for students to take thier stuff to school / college in and then they can put the straps over a shoulder.   Very Happy

Homemade socks go down a real treat and there are hundreds of free patterns out there.   My husband loves his home made socks to go in his army boots   Rolling Eyes

Sssssssssh but I have dyed him some camo yarn to match his kit   Wink   as a surprise for Chrismas   Very Happy   But they are not thick so they fit in normal shoes and trainers.

Plastic on the table and on me - don't forget the rubber gloves  Very Happy

Powder dye mixed up so that I had different shades of green and a brown, with vineger ... laid the undyed sock yarn out in an open large skein, then with a paint brush did large blocks of colour about 12" about 3 times even round the skein and then did the next colour the same etc and then every so often put a small 1" stripe in. You really have to push the dye into the yarn on the front and back.  Then put into a sealed plastic bag and steam for about 30 minutes, let it cool down naturally before rinsing (so not to felt), hey presto self dyed yarn ..... wind into a ball and knit   Very Happy
