Couldn't think where to post this but it's probably relevant in here.

Greenlady had a credit card as a student which was paid off in full just before we moved here. She's applied to lease a coffee machine and spoke to a lovely chap from the leasing company. Normally you won't get details about why your application would be refused but he told her it was only an outstanding credit card payment that was the problem otherwise her history was exemplary (sp)
She got onto the bank and was told that "we've reopened your account as you're still paying credit card insurance." She received no statements (mail was redirected for over a year when we moved), no nasty letter, nothing. Apparently she has 6 mths defaulted payments (£106) for card insurance on a card she doesn't have. The chap from the leasing company told her she could fight it but it could take over a year to sort, in the meantime this "blot" is showing on her history.
She's decided to pay the bill and will receive a letter of confirmation (at this address  Rolling Eyes ) Once this is emailed to leasing company things can go ahead.

The reason I've posted this in here is to let people know to cancel any card insurance if they are paying off credit cards, otherwise it will cost you. I could have a rant but have decided not to waste my energy, it could be better used elsewhere.......................

I may be wrong and I do not know what your small print said but I was under the impression that you only paid an insurance amount if you had an amount on the credit card.

Also by law the company has to send statements and as long as you can prove that you did change the address/prove of re-direction, then I believe you will have a good case.

You could still claim back the charges retrospectively.  Look here.  As she has cleared her name it dosen't matter how long it takes, if would just be good to get your/her money back.

It's awful when you get a bad name when something so small/incorrect is placed on your credit rating.

Nothing in the small print Jacky but she has written to the ombudsman and intends to pursue so she gets her (well actually mine) money back.

I have to say again that Andy (chap from credit place) has been wonderful. He also advised her to get her name on the electoral roll. Another "error" as she has confirmation that she IS on it and if you go onto 192.com and type her name in it comes up at this address.  Rolling Eyes The council are now "sorting it out."
We would never have known of this error if he hadn't told us. He's given lots of advice about different aspects of getting credit and money matters. Such a change from the "no, we can't tell you anything" or "sorry, the system has crashed."

And..........to top it all, she went to get shopping (for cafe) and her business card was declined...............a bank error, they froze the account by mistake................
