I saw a wonderful site yesterday on the way to work.  A Red Kite had obviously found something it liked as it flew lower and lower with claws poised to grab it.  I always seem to be driving when I see these things and can't stop or photograph them.

Lovely to look at, but recent protection legislation is making birds of prey so common that they compete for food, leading to small pet animals being taken, as well as new born lambs, other endangered small bird species, as well as reared game birds etc.

I suspect before long we will be allowed to control their numbers again.

i love seeing them fly down the valley at the same level as we are...

the farmers leave some of their dead sheep out and i rather suspect that other than being too lazy to collect them, they are of course food for the kites
