My duck story ....

I went to the Malvern Autumn Show on a coach trip with my village gardening club and ...

Fell in love with two Indian Runners, so I bought them, like you do and sat them on the seat next to me on the 1 1/2 hour journey home   Laughing   Laughing

DH a little surprised, said I have always wanted a pond, so ...

However in the meantime on a visit to Libby's a couple of weeks later, I passed a farm with a For Sale sign - of more ducks, so bought two more Call Ducks X with Karky (sp) Campbells   Very Happy

So armed with 4 ducks (1 x drake and 3 ducks), DH really had to get digging and this is what we finished off together at the weekend, the stones are reclaimed from our neighbours garden months ago - you know, they will come in handy some time   Wink   and see they did, saving us loads of pennies.

I also made my very embarrassed DH and DD go up to a posh tree lined street on Sunday afternoon, to collect an large estate car, jam packed/stuffed (trouble closing boot and doors) with dried fallen leaves to spead all over the chicken/duck area.  DD swept, DH and I lifted, they worked very fast and to collect this amount of leaves took just 7 minutes (you can only see a fraction of the leaves in this photo)  Laughing   Laughing   Laughing

But dosen't it look good?

It took the ducks 48 hours before using it and now all 4 get in   Very Happy

ps : we will fill it to the top but wanted all the chickens, including the younger ones to get use to it first, plus the water butt ran out.  They are all now very good with the pond and as it has rained some more, we can top up using the water butt again.
